Ingredients

  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Salt
  • 1 lb. ground veal
  • 1/2 Tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Fresh Mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Hamburger buns
  • 2 teaspoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Heat grill to medium-high heat
  2. Pour 1 cup balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Allow to boil, stirring regularly, until the balsamic has reduced to about half the amount.
  3. Pour in sugar and a pinch of salt. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Reduce heat to low, stirring, until sauce begins to thicken. Remove from heat. (Sauce will keep thickening)
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine ground veal, garlic, onion, parsley, flour, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined. Form into hamburger patties. Transfer the burgers to the grill cook until they have reached internal temperature of 165 degrees F for a well-done burger. Flip the burgers halfway through cooking.
  6. Baste each burger with your balsamic glaze and cover with a thick slice of fresh mozzarella cheese. Continue to cook until cheese has melted.
  7. While the cheese melts, melt butter and brush hamburger buns. Place on grill for a few minutes to get a nice toasting.
  8. To assemble burgers, top each toasted bun with your cheese-covered burger, fresh basil leaves, sliced tomatoes, and drizzle with additional balsamic glaze. Enjoy!
